Disability

This document aims to set out a clear policy position for disability flexible respite services that will guide ADHC’s significantly expanding investment in flexible respite; provide clarity for ADHC, non-government and government organisations that are funded under the flexible respite service type about the parameters of flexible respite service provision; and inform the negotiation of future funding agreements with flexible respite service providers.

The development of this National Disability Strategy is the first time in Australia’s history that all governments have committed to a unified, national approach to improving the lives of people with disability, their families and carers, and to providing leadership for a community-wide shift in attitudes.

Standards in action covers the NSW Disability Services Standards and provides information to assist in the implementation of each of the ten Standards in the day-to-day operation of delivering disability services.

The Directory assists service providers and/or individuals to locate disability advocacy and information services in their area. It includes hyperlinks that will take you directly to State-wide advocacy or information services, more detailed maps of each of the ADHC Regions, and lists of services in each Region.

Th e aim of this booklet from Scope (Vic) Ltd is to provide people w • ith disabilities and their support people with an overview and an understanding of the grief process; to highlight the range of needs of people with disabilities who may be grieving; and to provide eff ective strategies for supporting people with disabilities in dealing with grief and loss.

PDCN’s Words Matter focuses on the importance of socially inclusive language as part of everyday life. Words are another way to include people with disability. PDCN believes socially inclusive language is a way to put the person first, showing people with disability are ordinary people with ordinary lives.

From DADHC 

The NSW Government has launched Better Together: A new direction to make NSW Government services work better for people with a disability and their families: 2007 - 2011 in February 2007.

The whole-of-government plan, which has had extensive input from 12 NSW Government agencies including the NSW Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care, will support the work of the Stronger Together plan in delivering better services for people with a disability, their families and carers.

While Stronger Together: A new direction for disability services in NSW 2006 -2016 delivers increases in specialist disability services, Better Together will ensure vital public services such as transport, health, education and housing are better able to meet the needs of people with a disability and their families.
